Who’s Idea Was This?
For decades people have been looking for a permanent hair removal solution. When the modern age rolled around with its exponential rise in technology and science more methods of hair removal were invented. Most notably, of course, was the invention of laser hair removal therapy.
Dr. Rox Anderson
Dr. Rox Anderson studied at the Wellman Institute at Harvard’s Mass General. He then received his MD after graduating from MIT in the MIT-Harvard medical program, health sciences, and technology. He then completed his dermatology residency and an NIH research fellowship at Harvard after which he joined the Harvard faculty and is now a dermatology professor at the Harvard Medical School as well as the director of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine.
Dr. Anderson owns upwards of 60 national and international patents. He has also co-authored upwards of 250 books and scientific papers.
Dr. Anderson was the driving force behind the conception, invention, and development of laser hair removal therapy. Without his groundbreaking work, the technology would not be where it is today. However, he not only known for laser hair removal treatment. He also is responsible for many other important advances in dermatology.
The Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale
The Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale was created by Dr. Thomas B. Fitzpatrick. This scale is an important piece of many dermatology treatments today.
The Fitzpatrick scale was created to categorize different types of skin’s response to ultraviolet (UV) light. Initially, eye color was used as a guiding metric until someone realized that it was inaccurate.
The Fitzpatrick scale is used by most dermatologists today in determining treatments and types of treatments for individuals.
This scale is widely used in areas other than laser hair removal and is still an important part of dermatological diagnosis and treatment.
Laser Hair Removal Today
Today laser hair removal is widespread and the technology is evolving. More and more innovations are happening in this field. Everyday history is being made.
